A remarkable feature of the past half century is the popular resurgence of ancient pilgrimage. This course will explore the many dimensions of ancient and medieval pilgrimage and its current popularity. Students will engage with pilgrimages and will also be expected to design a new pilgrimage that addresses issues of peace, justice and spiritual engagement.
